The project involved the reconstruction of the building of Educational and Upbringing Complex №2 in Pokrovsk and the creation of a protective shelter. The existing planning structure of the building contradicted the requirements of a modern, humane educational space, lacked the necessary functionality and facilities, and did not meet current standards.
The volumetric-spatial solution of the building was designed in accordance with the configuration of the land plot, taking into account the characteristics of the existing and planned development.
The architectural and planning solutions took into account the needs of people with limited mobility (inclusivity) and included a modern shelter that integrated various educational functions. A balance between safety and openness of space was ensured. Improvements were carried out in collaboration with the community and project stakeholders. The volumetric and spatial solutions of the educational complex were developed in consideration of urban planning and architectural-compositional conditions of the project location and the design brief requirements.

The project incorporated modern planning, architectural, engineering, and technological solutions. A clear distinction was made between the school’s functions and those of the preschool facility. The upgraded school facilities now provide the most advanced educational process for 528 students and 60 preschoolers.
Special attention was given to the separation of primary and secondary school student flows. The sports section, equipped with locker rooms, a coach’s office, and a multifunctional gymnasium, enables sports competitions and the formation of athletic clubs. The outdated food block was replaced with a modern dining hall on the first floor, adjacent to an assembly hall for events. The library, coworking spaces, and classrooms were also renovated. Additionally, modern façade solutions were implemented using high-quality and durable materials.
This project was developed within the framework of the Project Support Institute of the “U-LEAD with Europe” program, which aims to assist communities in preparing local reconstruction projects. U-LEAD is a cooperation program between the Government of Ukraine, the European Union, and its member states (Germany, Poland, Denmark, and Slovenia), focused on creating a transparent and accountable multi-level governance system that meets the needs of Ukrainian citizens.
