The project envisages the transformation of the inner courtyard space near the intersection of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, Promyslova, and Donetska streets in Lviv.
In the past decade, the Podzamche district has undergone significant changes. These changes have been quite natural, as the location is near the city center and has always been somewhat undervalued due to its industrial legacy, much of which has ceased operations.
Currently, the site is in a rather dilapidated condition, with one-story utility buildings scattered across the area, many of which were constructed spontaneously.
The proposed design suggests creating a terraced building with hotel functions, ranging from 3 to 5 stories, positioned between the existing blind end walls of buildings on adjacent plots. This volume will divide the site into two spaces: a public one along Bohdan Khmelnytsky Street and a semi-private space along the green embankment of the railway tracks.
The building will house public functions, and the design also includes an underground parking lot.
Key aspects for this location include its historical environment and the proximity of the railway tracks.
Therefore, the newly created volume is designed to align with the existing local morphology and the parceling of the urban fabric, which also serves to reduce the noise pollution from the railway. In terms of height, the design takes into account the need to preserve views of the Zamkova Hill.
